DHL Restructuring

The weak economy continues to take its toll on businesses as DHL announces they will cease offering Express and Ground service in the United States beginning January 30th, 2009. They will however continue to offer their Global Mail solutions as well as International package services.

Global mail includes the popular SmartMail service used by many online sellers. If you currently use SmartMail, it might be worth getting clarification by contacting your DHL representative.

How do you suppose this will affect the domestic smartmail services provided by DHL? It seams pretty clear that they will still offer the International version.

Heck Ingram just started offering International direct to home through the DHL SmartMail International Program.

Smartmail is part of their GlobalMail services which are continuing.

So SmartMail should continue. I would check with your rep, though.

Randy, first I want to say that they are closing a major DHL plant in my home town and 10,000 people are going to be laid off.

I've had nothing but bad experiences with DHL.

I bought some bubble mailers from esupplystore on eBay. esupplystore uses UPS but for a brief time they switched to DHL. It ended up taking 2 weeks instead of 1 week to receive when they used DHL.

I had a guitar shipped to me DHL and it arrived two days after the scheduled delivery date.

It doesn't surprise me that these guys are hurting. 99% of the time UPS delivers on the scheduled date, these Bozo's can never deliver packages on time.
