eBay Rewards Program - eBay Bucks!

Scot Wingo has a very detailed post on the new "eBay Bucks" reward program that eBay is rolling out. It appears that there are some issues with the messaging around the launch and that while eBay says it is limited to select buyers (invitation only) Scot got in without an invite.

Scot also makes a great point about eBay's communication problems.

"So here we have what looks like a pretty interesting program.

ChannelAdvisor is one of eBay's largest partners and I learned about it from a buyer emailing asking if it is phishing or not.

I guarantee eBay hasn't talked to any sellers about this as well."

If you buy on eBay and didn't get the invite. You might just head over to the site and register before they figure out they have a problem.

Update: It looks like the registration is now closed to everybody but those invited, but you can still put your user ID on the list for when they roll this out.

The trckiest part of ebay Bucks is you can use all on ONE transaction only. All unused money will go away. So either you buy equal or more valuable item than your accumalated ebay bucks or loose. I guess, ebay is pushing towards higher value transaction with this. Remember, they change Min starting price not to long ago.

Teh "First Texas Home" comment seems to be wrong - I looked today on the terms at http://pages.ebay.com/rewards/terms.html and it says:

5.5 Rewards will be deducted from the total purchase price and any unused Reward amount remaining on the eBay Bucks Certificate will continue to be available to the Eligible Participant until that eBay Bucks Certificate expires;
