eBay Buys the Rest of Magento

Newsflash! eBay acquires Magento the open source shopping cart. Well they actually acquired the rest of Magento since they already owned 49% prior to this news.

When it comes to eBay and their M&A activity I sometimes scratch my head, but this seems like a no-brainer move since they already owned 49% now they have control of the company and in theory can maximize the investment.

I am very curious to see what they do with all of the recent moves. I could speculate of course about what I think they would do but when it comes to eBay you never know.

Just my 15%

It's expected for the e-commerce giant to acquire smaller firms. This is bad for the open source culture.

That would be great for both businesses. eBay can improve the services that Magento offers. It's definitely a good move.

I don't know if it's a good thing for Ebay to keep buying its competitors out. Although it does not make it fair for marketing perspectives, it gives consumers varied options for that site in terms of the volume it can offer to the public.

Coming from Nevada llc, I think that this is a strategical move by eBay to have an advantage over its competitors. This is a risk though as it could work out in their favor, or it could back fire as well.
