Free Shipping Moves You to the Top in eBay's Best Match

eBay's Best Match is now calculating S&H costs in the sort algorithm and for a perfect example of how its working go to the ultra-competitive Nintendo Wii search and you will see.

Free S&H is the direction eBay wants to go and they are putting their "Best Match" where their mouth is.

Of course if you have time to modify some of your current listings before they close (12 hours before closing) you might test a few to see how it works for you.

More on this later.

Update: If eBay had a shopping cart and could faciliate Free Shipping on orders over a specified amount like $50 then this would make sense. Until then ASPs will go up to cover adding the S&H to the purchase price and eBay will make more money in FVF and GMV will spike.

Just my 12%

You can already do this.

Yeah, but I don't believe it will allow you to show Free Shipping in the listing which gets you the Best Match advantage.

Even more importantly, items shipped from the same seller cannot be packed and tagged together in the event of dispute resolution. That would make the combination of Free Shipping and a Cart an absolute boondoggle if the buyer got a $49.00 bottle of perfume and a $1.00 starting bid chainsaw!
